Trauma Therapy Intensives

A More Spacious Approach to Trauma Therapy

Sometimes, meaningful therapeutic work needs more time and space. Trauma intensives offer an opportunity to slow down, become curious about what’s happening beneath the surface, and explore experiences and patterns that may be difficult to shift in a traditional therapy session.

My approach integrates EMDR, Internal Family Systems (IFS), Sensorimotor Psychotherapy (SP), and Somatic Experiencing (SE), offering an extended space to explore these experiences in a way that honors your needs and your pace. Together, we’ll make room for what emerges, allowing time for exploration, processing, and integration.

About Trauma Therapy Intensives

What Are Trauma Therapy Intensives?

Trauma intensives are extended therapy sessions that allow for more focused work than a traditional weekly appointment. With additional time, we can move at a pace that feels manageable, allowing space for exploration, processing, rest, and integration.

Each intensive is tailored to you and your goals. Depending on your needs, our work may include processing distressing experiences, exploring protective patterns, attending to bodily sensations and responses, or developing greater understanding and compassion for yourself.

Intensives aren’t about pushing through difficult experiences or trying to accomplish everything in one day. The focus is on creating enough time and space for meaningful work while respecting your pace and capacity.

Who Might Benefit From an Intensive?

An intensive may be a good fit if you:

  • Have experienced trauma or relational wounding that continues to affect your life.
  • Understand your patterns intellectually but struggle to shift them.
  • Want to explore a particular experience or concern in greater depth.
  • Feel that the stop-and-start rhythm of weekly therapy makes it difficult to maintain momentum.
  • Prefer a more concentrated approach to therapy or have limited availability for ongoing sessions.

Intensives may be helpful for people working through childhood or attachment trauma, distressing life events, anxiety related to past experiences, grief, or other patterns that feel difficult to change.

Is An Intensive Right for You?

Intensives involve extended periods of therapeutic work and aren’t the best fit for everyone at every point in their healing process.

Before scheduling, we’ll discuss your history, current circumstances, goals, and support needs to determine whether this format is appropriate. If you need more time to establish stability, develop regulation skills, or strengthen support before engaging in intensive trauma work, we can explore other options.

Intensives may not be appropriate during periods of acute crisis, active suicidal intent, significant instability, or when dissociation or substance use makes extended trauma processing difficult to undertake safely. These concerns don’t necessarily mean intensive work will never be appropriate, but they may indicate that a different level or pace of care is needed first.

What to Expect

1. Free Consultation

We’ll begin with a 30-minute phone or video consultation to discuss what you’re looking for, answer questions, and explore whether an intensive might be a good fit.

2. Assessment and Preparation Session

Before your intensive, we’ll meet for a 90-minute session to discuss your history, clarify your goals, and prepare for the work ahead. We’ll also explore resources and strategies that can help you remain grounded and supported throughout the process.

3. Your Intensive

Your intensive is customized to your needs and may take place over a half day, a full day, or multiple days. Our work may incorporate EMDR, parts work, somatic awareness, and other therapeutic approaches as appropriate. Breaks and time for integration are built into the schedule.

4. Follow-Up and Integration Session

We’ll meet for a 55-minute follow-up session to reflect on your experience, discuss what you’ve noticed since the intensive, and consider any ongoing support that may be helpful.
